A$AP Rocky Opens Up About Sharing Clothes With Rihanna and His Hopes for Their Son’s Future
Before Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their first child, the rapper opened up about his plans for their future.
“I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what. I actually love to watch cartoons—I’ve watched like Teletubbies, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig, and Baby Shark,” Rocky told Dazed in a new interview that was conducted shortly after Rihanna’s rave-themed baby shower in April. “I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.”
A$AP Rocky also opened up about his relationship with Rihanna, almost exclusively referring to the “Diamonds” singer as “my lady” throughout the interview. The rapper says “the stars were aligned” for the couple, who took things to the next level in 2020 after years of close friendship. “They have always had amazing chemistry and Rihanna relates to A$AP and it feels natural, easy, and fun,” a source told Entertainment Tonight in November 2020. “She feels very comfortable around him since they’ve known each other for such a long time and also feels a connection to him because his dad is from Barbados.” Just over two years later, Rihanna reportedly gave birth to their baby boy on May 13, according to reports from TMZ.
In one particularly sweet moment from the interview, Rocky discussed their effortless compatibility, particularly when it comes to fashion. “I think it’s just natural. We happen to look good together naturally,” he said. “You know, it would take a lot of work to have us forcefully match before we leave the house. Sometimes we match to a T, or we just wear the same clothes. If I buy a shirt that she likes, I expect to get it stolen…but then I gotta steal it back.”
