Old Navy Extra High-Waisted PowerSoft Pleated Skort Review

Old Navy Skort Review

When it comes to fashion inspiration, I find a lot of outfit ideas while scrolling through TikTok. The app is how I discovered one of my favorite matching sets, and it’s even where I discovered the most comfortable pair of affordable heels I’ve ever owned. When I saw that pretty much everyone on TikTok was rocking tennis skorts, I was immediately intrigued. At first, I purchased one from Amazon, but I kept having issues with it riding up, and ultimately I felt like the shorts underneath the skirt were too short. When I saw a photo of the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted PowerSoft Pleated Skort ($30) while shopping online one day, I had a feeling I’d found exactly what I had been searching for.

When I received the package containing my skort in the mail, I ripped it open and tried it on right then and there. The skort is made with the brand’s PowerSoft fabric, which is extremely soft and comfortable and genuinely felt like butter against my skin. The fabric is also quick drying, so I’ve learned that it’s perfect for wearing during a sweaty workout — no need to worry about sweat stains. It’s a flared minilength skirt that has a curved hem with pleating in the back, and it’s the perfect length — not too long and not too short.

What I Like About This Skort

My absolute favorite feature of this skort is that it’s ultra high-waisted. This skort is one inch higher than Old Navy’s standard high-rise skort, which means it sits above the belly button — exactly where I like my pants, shorts, and now skorts to hit. It also has a built-in pocket in the shorts portion that fits my phone perfectly, which is excellent for when I am on a “hot girl walk” and prefer to be hands-free.

Plus, I love that it can be worn casually or for working out. I’ve been styling it with a sports bra when wearing it to work out or on a daily walk. I also love styling it with an oversize sweatshirt or a cropped tee when out running errands or meeting up with friends. Shoe-wise, I typically opt for a pair of white sneakers with a pair of the TikTok-viral Hue Mini Crew Socks ($18 for six).

What’s Worth Noting

This skort has built-in shorts (that’s what makes it a skort, after all), but it’s worth noting that they aren’t entirely “hidden” underneath the skirt. They’re on the longer side and have a six-inch inseam, meaning they can be seen peeking out from under the skirt. I love this feature and think that it looks stylish, but it’s definitely something worth taking note of!

As for sizing, I took my usual size, XS, and it fits perfectly, so I would say this skort is true to size.

Who Is This Skort Best For?

This is one of the items in my closet I reach for most often, especially now that the weather has gotten even hotter. I think this product is perfect for anyone who wants to try out the “skort” trend because the quality and fabric of this skort in particular honestly can’t be beaten — it’s softer than any other skort I’ve tested thus far. It’s also great for anyone who wants to elevate their workout looks.

Additional Details

  • This skort comes in sizes XS-4X.
  • The fabric is 77 percent polyester and 23 percent spandex.
  • The skort comes in four different colors: black, white, multicolored, and seafoam green.
